the stoner’s reckoning: weed was my medicine, until it wasn’t.

as a marijuana addict in recovery, April 20th is a complex day. there was a time in which i felt proud of smoking weed all day long— especially on 420, a religious holiday. now, i can’t help but cringe at the thought.

i also can’t help but feel a slight twinge of embarrassment whenever telling someone new that i’m sober because i was addicted to weed.
