a year ago today, my whole family had covid and i was 9 days sober. watching the ball drop in Times Square on TV, i realized i was not “home” in NYC with my fiancé having a drug-fueled final hooray— instead i was stuck in my parents’ house, sober and single.
i cried so hard i threw up in my mouth.
ALL OF THIS IS TO SAY: NEW YEAR’S EVE SUCKS
it is always a let down, it is always sloppy, and it is always loaded with unmet expectations.
i also reject the premise of New Year Resolutions— they are so tied into diet culture that it’s hard for me to take them seriously. who ever is like, i’m gonna pick up crochet? or, hike once a week? it’s always like, “lose fifteen pounds” or “metamorphosize into someone unrecognizable”.
this is why i offer my Artist’s Way Course at the beginning of each year.
if you are interested, you have one more week to join!
i will be holding two sessions, starting January 8 & 9. join us for 12 weeks of spiritual work, community building, and time-well-spent. i promise you, this is a way to jumpstart your year without lobbing empty promises.
i love you, and i am thankful you’re here.
may we all slide easily into 2023.
